Meet Chad Austin Kerr
I began telling stories as soon as I was able to get my hands on the family camcorder. From stop-motion animations with little green army men to forcing my siblings to put on dinosaur costumes so I could recreate Godzilla—it was obvious at a young age that stories were locked into my DNA.
When I was in High School, my father realized this drive I had to tell stories and make films wasn't going away. So, he started Revision Films: an official 501c3 faith-based filmmaking youth group. It was at this group that I began to be mentored by a local filmmaker named Carlos. He taught me everything I know about the craft and continues to help me grow even to this day.
After High School, I went to college to pursue a marketing degree. I had lost the belief I had as a kid that I could make a living as a filmmaker. After graduating with an associate's degree in business marketing, I planned to go back to school to further my education to become a high school teacher.
A month before classes were set to begin, my life changed.
I got my first job as a set production assistant on a Netflix movie. For the first time in my life, I saw what really went on behind the scenes of large film productions. I knew from that moment on, I couldn't ever go back to a career in teaching or marketing.
I was hooked. That experience relit a fire underneath me. I quit my job as a shift manager at a fast-food restaurant and landed a job as a cinematographer/video editor at a church in Cleveland. The flexible schedule allowed me to continue to develop my skills with work for the church, and then to pursue passion projects with my free time.
Eventually, people started to ask me to produce videos for them. So, I launched Chaustin Media.
Today, I'm able to produce high-quality video content for schools, businesses, churches, and non-profits. This company gives me the chance to do what I love, to support my passions, and to connect with amazing people. I absolutely love working with clients to see their stories come to life.
